On one side, you have some apparent common sense, on the other, you have this sort of nonsense.
Yesterday, ten people were killed and another seven injured in a community college in Oregon as a result of the latest mass shooting in the US.
It has subsequently been discovered that the gunman, identified as 26-year old Chris Harper Mercer, had posted pro-IRA messages and images on his social media accounts, something that was brought up during coverage of the shooting on Hannity, a programme on the Fox News Channel hosted by Sean Hannity.
In the video below, sent into us by JOE reader Cillian McManus, the contributor Hannity was speaking to appeared to show little to no understanding of the ‘IRA conflict,’ clumsily speaking about Catholics and Protestants and a Sunni/Shia rivalry in Ireland.
The background on the IRA is obviously not the most important issue here, but you would expect a more informed viewpoint from a news outlet as big and as influential as FOX.
Actually, maybe you wouldn’t.
