Major mutant melee.

Bryan Singer’s return to the X-Men universe was a triumphant one because ‘Days of Future Past’ managed to perfectly sync the original trilogy, his first two films are great but we’re happy to forget about Brett Ratner’s ‘The Last Stand’, with Matthew Vaughn’s exciting ‘First Class’ prequel.

We already brought you the first images of the franchise’s newest villain, the immortal and all-powerful Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), but the plot has just been revealed and it seems that he has an ally in Magneto (the uberly cool Michael Fassbender)

Xmen2

“Since the dawn of civilisation, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible.

“Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.

“As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”

"X-Men: Days Of Future Past" World Premiere

The decision to give Lawrence more importance to the plot makes a whole lot of sense given that she’s an incredibly good actress with an Oscar to her name along with the fact that her contract with the X-Men franchise is coming to an end.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open on May 19, 2016.
