The funeral of murdered Garda Anthony Golden took place in Blackrock in Louth today, four days after he was shot dead while investigating a domestic dispute in Omeath.
Golden was shot dead by Adrian Crevan Mackin, a 24-year old known to Gardai as a dissident Republican.
Crevan Macken subsequently turned the gun on himself and died, while a third person who was shot, mother of two Siobhan Phillips, remains critically ill in Beaumont Hospital.
Approximately 4,000 Gardai attended Golden’s funeral in Blackrock today and their presence in the town was captured by local photographer Niall Carroll in a very poignant aerial photograph.
