‘The Van’ turns 19 this week so here’s some timeless NSFW advice from a cult-classic

We love Bimbo's Burgers

We love Bimbo’s Burgers.

19 years ago this week, the final film from Roddy Doyle’s Barrytown Trilogy was released for Irish audiences.

Much like The Snapper and The Commitments before it, The Van continues to resonate with Irish film fans because it managed to capture our eccentricities, outlook on life and wonderful use of bad language.

Stephen Frears’ film is also a piece of nostalgic gold because it’s an almost flawless representation of the football fever that swept Ireland during Italia ’90.

I absolutely love it and like most brilliant comedies, it’s incredibly quotable. Here are some of my favourite lines and how they might fit in with your everyday life.
