Here’s your weather forecast for the weekend

In a word: shite

Conor Heneghan

Get the box sets ready folks, because you’ll be spending a lot of time inside.

Those of you hoping for an upturn in weather conditions this weekend will be sorely disappointed because the weather forecast is in for this weekend and it is grim.

According to Met Eireann, dry and bright conditions this morning won’t last for long as rain spreads throughout the country in the afternoon and evening, with winds of up to 100 kmh in places only compounding the misery.

If only this could last the weekend…

There will be a strong possibility of flooding, particularly in western areas, as heavy rain persists throughout the night ahead of “an exceptionally wet and windy day” in most parts of Ireland on Saturday.

The rain will go away for a little while on Sunday morning but is set to return with a vengeance on Sunday night, leading to more flooding in some areas. The forecast for early next week isn’t much better either.

For those of you planning outdoor activities this weekend, sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
