More weather warnings in place and more brutal weather predicted for Ireland

Ah here

Conor Heneghan

Time to call in Noah and the ark.

Those of us hoping for some respite from the frankly brutal weather conditions of the last few days will be disappointed by the latest forecasts, which are pretty grim to say the least.

A status yellow wind warning for the country was issued at 9pm last night and will remain valid until 7pm this evening, with winds expected to average 50-65 km/h throughout the country, reaching highs of 100 km/h in places.

We’re not likely to see a repeat of the conditions that made Teresa Mannion famous on Saturday night or anything but winds will be strongest in western and southern coastal counties, while the usual bouts of persistent rain will sweep across the country throughout the day.

Temperatures will be unseasonably mild, reaching highs of 14 degrees this afternoon and conditions are expected to remain unsettled and changeable throughout the week.

Great way to start a Monday morning, eh?
