It’s set to be a good year.

Like the Death Star blowing up Alderaan, there’s no escaping from Star Wars: The Force Awakens as J.J Abrams’ film is set to be released in cinemas all over Ireland.

Episode VII will possibly smash the box-office record in 2015 but much like Yoda, the good people at ODEON cinemas are using the Force to look into the future.

They asked Irish cinema-goers to name the 10 films that they’re most excited about and here they are.

10) Ghostbusters

Release date: July 15, 2016

Plot: We only know one thing so far, ‘Who You Gonna Call?’.

7) Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Release date: March 26.

Plot: Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’ most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

5) Ice Age: Collision Course

Plot: Scrat’s epic pursuit of his elusive acorn catapults him outside of Earth, where he accidentally sets off a series of cosmic events that transform and threaten the planet.

4) Captain America: Civil War

Release date: May 6

Plot: After another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps, one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.

3) Finding Dory

Release date: June 17

Plot: “Finding Dory” reunites the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish with her loved ones, and everyone learns a few things about the true meaning of family along the way.

2) Star Trek Beyond

Release date: July 22

Plot: Not a scooby-doo but I’d wager that space, aliens and Idris Elba feature prominently.

1) Untitled Bourne Movie

Release date: July 29

Plot: Bourne’s back. That’s all we need to hear.
