PIC: Nobody wants to buy this famous house and we don’t blame them

Although it would be a perfect spot for some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

At first glance, the house in the picture below seems like a very fine one indeed.

It’s got three storeys and four bedrooms and is located in a nice neighbourhood in a nice town in Pennsylvania.

That’s probably where the real estate agent would stop when trying to convince buyers to take a punt on it, however.

What they aren’t likely to mention is that this was the house that the infamous serial killer Buffalo Bill did horrendous things to his murder victims in the 1991 classic, The Silence of the Lambs.

It’s probably not a surprise to hear that the family that own the house are having a little difficulty selling it at the moment.

As it turns out, the gruesome basement scenes were filmed on a sound stage in a studio and people aren’t in any way put off by the fact that it was in such a shudder-inducing movie; in fact, interested parties have come from far away to view it for that very reason.

The reason that it has proved such a tough sell, according to NBC, is a combination of factors: a high asking price (it’s been ‘slashed’ from $300,000 to $249,900), location and the fact that despite having three storeys, it only has one bathroom.

“The price may have been a bit too high,” said real estate agent Dianne Wilk.

“The thing is, it’s a lovely, lovely home. And you know how people say George Washington slept in their home? Well, not many people can say they had a movie filmed in their house.”

It’s not exactly just any house or any movie though Dianne, is it? Can’t imagine too many people would be interested after watching scenes like this…
