The body of the man was taken from the Murray River after falling in overnight.
9 News Australia are reporting that a 25-year-old Irishman has died after falling off a houseboat on the Murray River, near the New South Wales-Victoria border.
The body was discovered after a lengthy recovery operation by police divers, boats and land crews. Local news are reporting that the man was staying with friends before he fell over the side and hit his head on the boat before reaching the water.
Despite the best efforts of his friends to rescue him, his body was taken away by the current.

The incident occurred at 1.40 am local time and divers from Victoria found his body about 3.45pm. The Department of Foreign Affairs are aware of the sad news and are currently providing support and assistance.
