Man from Knock saves baby girl from a vicious dog attack in New Jersey

Carl Kinsella

What a hero.

An 11-month-old girl in Nutley, New Jersey needed 70 stitches and will need days of further reconstructive surgery after being the victim of a vicious pit-bull attack.

The damage could have been far worse, however, if not for the bravery of Irishman Seamus Burke, who pulled the dog off the baby just in time.

The girl was bitten on the leg, and Burke tied a tourniquet around the wound in order to stem the bleeding.

Speaking to a local news outlet, Burke described the scene as “just a commotion, everyone was screaming, nobody knew where to go, what to do”.

The dog has been kept in quarantine for the time being while the city decides on the best course of action.
