Everybody’s relationship is different, but once you start to look at the data, patterns do emerge.
A study conducted by Emory University in Atlanta has revealed that the wider the age gap in your relationship, the more likely everything is to end in tears.
In fact, the study revealed that the best possible age gap for preserving your relationship is the narrowest gap possible – one year. Of the 3000 participant marriages, the ones with a one-year age gap were faced only a 3% chance of divorce.
This likelihood only increase as the gap widened. Couples with a five-year gap were 18% more likely than equal-age partners to break up. A 10-year gap came with an increase break-up potential of 39%. A gap of 20 years was near fatal, with couples 95% as likely to break up.
So if your interested in sticking together for the long haul, the best option is find someone who shares your exact birthday. Though preferably not your own twin.
