Poetic and poignant.
Mark Hamill and Kenny Baker have been friends ever since Star Wars: A New Hope was released in May 1977. The actor who played R2-D2 appeared in all six of the original films and he was also a droid consultant on The Force Awakens.
The world is currently mourning the death of Baker after the Time Bandits and Willow actor lost his battle with illness.
In the Star Wars saga, R2-D2 is Luke Skywalker’s most trusted companion and it seems that this bond of friendship between both men extended beyond their work in that galaxy that’s far, far away.
Goodbye #KennyBaker A lifelong loyal friend-I loved his optimism & determination He WAS the droid I was looking for! pic.twitter.com/rd94OEYaHi
