TRAILER: This film has been described as an oasis of filth and one of 2016’s best (NSFW)

Paul Moore

It’s bonkers and very, very NSFW.

There’s a plethora of great new films coming your way in September but film fans will know that there’s a lot to be said for those movies that borrow heavily from exploitation cinema. You know the genre that we’re talking about.

Those guilty pleasure that just make you laugh at 3am when you return from the pub and don’t want to think too much about what’s going on. We’re talking about films like Snakes on a Plane, Hobo with a Shotgun, Kung Fury and Black Dynamite. All of these titles have a devout following and The Greasy Strangler looks like it’s also about to become a cult-classic.

Jim Hosking’s film already has a 92% rating on esteemed website Rotten Tomatoes and The Guardian have hailed it as “a welcome oasis of filth, depravity and shock in a culture that too often thinks merely being a little weird passes muster” while Empire state that it’s “one of the best films of 2016”.

Plot’s it all about?:  “The film follows Ronnie, a man who runs a Disco Walking tour along with his browbeaten son, Brayden. When a sexy, alluring woman comes to take the tour, it begins a competition between father and son for her attentions. It also signals the appearance of an oily, slimy inhuman maniac who stalks the streets at night and strangles the innocent, soon dubbed ‘The Greasy Strangler.'”

Irish and UK release date:  October 7th.
