Temperatures “several degrees above normal” promised for next week

Conor Heneghan

Typical back to school weather.

We may not be able to guarantee a good summer in Ireland, but you can almost set your watch by fine conditions arriving in time for the start of the Leaving Cert and for students going back to school and college.

There doesn’t appear to be any sign of the hurricane that was threatening to come our way, but there is positive news as far as the weather is concerned for the coming week.

Met Éireann are forecasting “warm and humid” conditions from Monday right through until Friday, with temperatures “several degrees above normal” and set to rise into the 20s in places.

While there will be a threat of rain in Southern, western and northwestern coastal areas, it will be mainly dry with sunny spells for the bulk of the week ahead of a return to conditions more typical of this time of year next weekend.

Maybe don’t put away that barbecue just yet.
