WATCH: The most embarrassing moment of the presidential election so far had nothing to do with Donald Trump

Carl Kinsella

Republican nominee Donald Trump has said and done a lot of underhanded and cruel things throughout his presidential campaign.

Hillary Clinton, on the Democratic side, has also been accused of rank dishonesty – such as her assessment of what FBI Director James Comey had to say about her use of a private server to read confidential emails and conduct business as Secretary of State.

However, for all their failings, neither candidate has ever looked so rattled as Libertarian Party candidate and former Governor of New Mexico Gary Johnson did when he was asked a straightforward national security question on MSNBC’s Morning Joe this Thursday.

When journalist Mike Barnicle asked Johnson, who is polling at around 7-10% nationally, what he would do about Aleppo, Johnson looked stunned and asked “… And what is Aleppo?” – unable to so much as guess what Barnicle could be referring to.

Mike Barnicle, who was similarly stunned by Johnson’s complete ignorance of the Syrian city which has been ravaged by civil war and airstrikes from many Western countries, including America, could only respond with an incredulous: “You’re kidding.”

When Johnson confirmed that he was, in fact, not kidding, Barnicle explained that Aleppo is essentially the source of the refugee crisis currently wreaking havoc on global geopolitics.

Johnson said “Got it” and proceeded to give a rambling, non-specific answer that would have made The Donald proud.

Johnson, who is probably the most popular third-party candidate since Ralph Nader in 2000 is running on a platform that America’s two-party system has failed and a party in the White House.

Based on today’s evidence, Gary Johnson is not qualified to fulfil that role.
