It’s going to get wet out there folks! Met Eireann issues rain warning for four counties

Alan Loughnane

Bring a brolly…

We hate to say it folks, but the unpredictable Irish summer is over and we’re firmly in the grips of the Irish autumn and the (if possible) even more unpredictable weather.

It’s the kind of weather where you leave the house in the morning wearing a thick jacket, only to remove it at lunch time because it’s 150 degrees outside, then get soaked after the heavens suddenly open.

Met Eireann have issued a status yellow rain warning for Galway, Mayo, Cork and Kerry valid from 1am this morning until midnight.

Rainfall of between 25mm and 35mm is expected in these areas with rain turning persistent and heavy after a mixed morning.

The eastern half of the country will be mainly dry today with some sunny spells with highest temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees.

Tonight will continue to be wet in western areas with heavy rainfall leading to some risk of localised flooding, again the east of the country will remain dry.

Make sure you bring a brolly with you… no, not that kind of brolly.
