Kerry weather station records highest amount of rainfall on one day in over 150 years

It was very, very wet in the south-west on Monday.

A weather station in Kerry recorded its highest amount of rainfall in a 24-hour period on Monday since it began taking records over 150 years ago.

According to RTÉ, Valentia Observatory in Kerry recorded 105.5mm of rain in 24 hours following torrential rain in the area on Monday.

A number of roads were closed and a number of houses were damaged due to flooding in and around the town of Portmagee.

According to Kerry County Council, the road at Gortmaloon in Glencar has been reopened while others are currently being assessed for damage.
