Frosty spells in store this week as winter begins to take its grip

Conor Heneghan

Winter is coming.

Low temperatures will lead to frost throughout the country on nearly every night of the coming week, which sounds like it could be a decent one on the weather front.

According to the Met Éireann forecast, there will be scattered showers throughout the country on Monday, turning into heavier showers in the evening, with temperatures of 4-7 degrees at night-time set to lead to frost in places.

There will be further showers on Tuesday but they will be isolated on what is forecast to be a mostly dry day, with mist, fog patches and frost again developing amid temperatures of 3-6 degrees at night.

The outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday is for more dry and settled conditions, with temperatures of 11-13 degrees during the day and a frosty 3-6 at night.

Unfortunately, the weekend is likely to bring spells of unsettled weather, with rain spreading north eastwards and strong south easterly breezes to go with it.
