Good news on the jobs front…

Minister for Education Richard Bruton has announced the creation of 430 new resource teacher jobs in Ireland.

A resource teacher is an additional post allocated to assist a school or cluster of schools in providing an education which meets the needs of children assessed as having disabilities.

According to the Journal.ie, Minster Bruton said: “This Government’s basic aim is to use our economic progress to deliver a fair society. Our supports for children with special educational needs is at the very heart of this effort.

“Resource teachers play a vital role in providing for the educational needs of students with special educational needs.

“This substantial additional allocation of resources will meet the needs of students with Special Educational Needs who have been enrolled in schools, or who have been assessed as having additional needs, since the first round of allocations which was made in May of this year.”

Details of the Resource Teaching allocations to each county are available here.
