Garda Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan has provided an update.
Earlier this afternoon, we brought you the news that the Garda strike will definitely be going ahead. Nothing has changed in that regard.
As previously stated, there will be “a skeletal service to protect the security of the State, prevent and detect serious crime and preserve vital evidence”, and Garda Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan has provided an update on this statement.
UTV journalist Zara King was present as Garda commissioner O’Sullivan stated that “we can’t go into the details of the contingency plan. It’s a fluid situation and we will await the outcome of some of the talks. My understanding is that in the last short time a recommendation has been issued from the Labour court to the GRA Commissioner and the Government. The Labour court will sit tonight and we await the outcomes of those talks.”
She added that “contingency plans are in place to deal with whatever factors emerge tomorrow morning”.
Take a look.
