The Simpsons looks set to break records with its next two seasons

JOE

D’oh.

The Simpsons has been renewed for it’s 29th and 30th season, half way through the it’s 28th. This will ensure that The Simpsons will become the TV show with the most episodes of all time.

Despite the newer episodes of the show drawing a high level of criticism, the show still brings in an average of 7.2 million viewers per episode.

Currently, the TV show with the most episodes is CBS show Gunsmoke, which ran from 1955 until 1975. Gunsmoke drew to a close in its 20th season, which is a few seasons later than Matt Groening should have pulled the plug on The Simpsons…

The Simpsons is only 35 episodes away from surpassing Gunsmoke, and certainly will as a result of 2 new seasons being guaranteed.

Unfortunately, the way the show has gone, we can expect to see more ridiculous shark-jumping episodes that would make one forget that the show was once a marvellous piece of television.
