Lots of American citizens fancy moving to Ireland after Trump’s win

Paul Moore

Ah sure, we’re only brilliant.

Throwing your toys out of the pram is one  way of dealing with defeat, but we’ve rarely seen people emigrate en mass after their candidate suffered a defeat at the polls. This is the situation that some American citizens are facing though after Hillary Clinton was beaten by Donald Trump in the presidential elections.

Nobody knows what type of President Trump will be, but it’s clear that some American citizens might not be sticking around to find out. We’re quite aware that the majority will remain and that they’re making an empty promise, butthere was a notable increase in the amount of people that thought about making the move to Ireland.

Here’s how the phrase ‘Move To Ireland’ spiked on Google Trends during the week. The November 9th date is incredibly noticeable.

Canada’s immigration website may have crashed, but it appears that Ireland is the preferred destination for some people.

Here are some of the American citizens that might fancy a new home in the Emerald Isle.

Here are some responses from Irish people, we especially love the reply that was sent to Glenn Howerton of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fame.

See, Ireland is a great place that’s completely devoid of any social problems, glaring issues , corruption or inequality (*cough, cough*)
