A suspect has been arrested after a truck crashed into a Christmas market in Berlin, killing at least nine people and injuring at least 50 others.
The suspect is reported to have fled the scene after the attack, but German TV report that a person reported to have been the driver of the truck has been arrested.
A passenger in the truck is reported to have died.
It is being investigated as an act of terrorism.
A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs stated that there were no reports of any Irish people among the dead and the injured.

The market was situated close to Kurfuerstendamm avenue, close to the ruined Kaiser Wilhelm memorial church.
