You may have to remortgage your house if you want tickets to Ireland’s Six Nations games

Alan Loughnane

Absolutely scandalous…

The Six Nations is just a few short weeks away in what is one of the most eagerly awaited tournaments in recent memory.

Hype is high after a successful Autumn series for Ireland which saw the Irish team historically defeat New Zealand for the first time and claim a victory over Australia in the face of adversity.

England will be the team to beat going into the tournament, and with Ireland scheduled to take them on in the Aviva Stadium on the last day of the tournament, it could potentially be for a Grand Slam decider.

Official tickets for Ireland’s home games against France and England sold out long ago, but there’s still ways of getting your hands on those precious little stubs if you’re willing to pay enough.

Tickets for the games can be bought on the online marketplace viagogo, but if you’re going to buy them, you may need to sell your spouse, eat tins of spam for a year and possible remortgage your family home.

The cheapest tickets available on the site for Ireland’s potentially crunch game with England are available for as little as €870… you’ll have to be quick to get your hands on this terrific bargain because they’re selling out fast according to the website.

Tickets on the site are for sale for as much as €4,012, although tickets for sale at this price rarely get sold.

Tickets on the Official Irish Rugby website are listed at €105 at their most expensive with restricted view tickets going for as little as €30.

Tickets for Ireland’s other home game against France are selling for similarly high prices.

Meanwhile, you can pick up a ticket second hand for Ireland’s game against Scotland in Murrayfield for a comparatively paltry €73.

Pub, anyone?
