Great news for Cork and Carlow.

Topaz and McDonald’s have announced that approximately 330 new jobs will be created by the opening of two new motorway service areas in Carlow and Fermoy.

Two new state-of-the-art Topaz motorway service stations will be opened to serve Junction 5 on the M9, in Rathcrogue in Carlow and Junction 14 on the M8 in Fermoy in Cork.

230 new jobs will be created by the opening of the service stations, while an additional 100 jobs will be created during the construction phase of the development of both sites.

The service station in Carlow is due to open next month, while the Fermoy development is due to open in the autumn; both service stations will be operational for 24 hours a day once opened.

Topaz are set to invest €14million in the project, with McDonald’s investing a further €2million in the service stations.
