Irish Rail has released a statement clarifying that an incident on the tracks of the Dublin-Drogheda and Dublin-Belfast commuters routes has forced a shut down of trains in either direction.
While the nature of the incident is not a clear, a tweet from Iarnród Éireann clarified that emergency services had been dispatched to the site.
The closure of the routes is likely to effect many commuters on Sunday evening, and it is unclear as to whether the routes will be operational by morning. The tweet from Iarnród Éireann, released two hours ago, makes it clear that “the line is expected to remain closed for some time.” DART services have not been affected by the incident.
There have been no further updates.
