A controlled explosion was carried out by a bomb disposal robot in Derry just seconds after a woman walked past in Glengalliagh Park on Sunday.
Footage recorded by a witness showed a woman walking past the robot seconds before the controlled explosion was carried out on a suspicious package during a security response to what police said turned out to be “an elaborate hoax”.

According to the Derry Journal, police said that they “spoke to the resident immediately after and, although she was shaken, she was uninjured”.
Police were also advising people to respect security cordons in the wake of the incident, having advised residents to leave their homes while they carried out the security operation on Sunday.
