Firefighters in Cork city struggle to put out the fire at the derelict former St. Anne’s Hospital overlooking Cork city on Tuesday evening in this timelapse footage by JOE reader Sean Henderson.
The former psychiatric hospital has been abandoned for some time now, and is known as one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
The destruction caused by the fire can be seen as firefighters battle in vain to save the building, also known as St Kevin’s Hospital.

The blaze broke out around 8pm on Tuesday night and it took the emergency services a full eight hours to subdue the flame.
The alarm was raised by a fisherman on the River Lee.
