An Aer Lingus flight from Gatwick to Knock had to be diverted on Sunday afternoon.
The flight, EI911, was forced to land halfway through its journey at Dublin Airport, after it suffered from a bird strike.
While the flight landed safely, bird strikes on aircraft are a significant threat to human safety, and cause annual damages of over one billion dollars to the aviation industry.
