A heartbreaking start to Christmas morning.
A rescue operation is under way in Louisburgh, County Mayo following an incident where a car went into a river in the early hours of 25 December.
Louisburgh is a small town on the southwest corner of Clew Bay in County Mayo.
The Coastguard Rescue helicopter R118 arrived to the scene along with a local team from Westport who assisted in the operation.

Gardaí and the fire services are currently at the scene.
Met Éireann issued a rainfall weather warning for Connacht and several other counties yesterday, which is in place until 6pm this evening.
