A 21-year-old male has been injured following shooting in Cherry Orchard

A young man has been injured in a shooting incident in Dublin this evening.

The 21-year-old male is believed to have been shot at 8:05pm on Thursday evening on Cherry Orchard Parade, 8km west of Dublin city.

It is understood that he was shot in the leg.

Emergency crews from both An Garda Síochana and Dublin Fire Brigade rushed to the scene shortly after 8pm.

At time of writing, the young man is still being treated by Dublin Fire Brigade ambulance personnel at the scene.

Gardaí have confirmed that the injuries are not life-threatening.
