A driver has died following a collision with a wall on the N4

The driver of a car which struck a wall in the early hours of Sunday morning in Dublin has died.

A man, understood to be in his late 40s, has been killed after the car he was driving left the road and collided with a wall at approximately 2.15am on Sunday morning.

The single vehicle road traffic collision occurred on the N4 inbound at Lucan in west Dublin.

Gardaí are currently investigating the scene and urge anyone with information to come forward.

“A man in his late 40s, driver and sole occupant of the car was fatally injured when his car left the road and struck a wall at approximately 2.15 am this morning,” a garda spokesman said.

“The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Blanchardstown Hospital where a post mortem will take place.

“The road at the scene of the collision has reopened as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have completed their examination.”
