The families of Jastine Valdez and the man suspected of her murder, Mark Hennessy, have met and exchanged sympathies for the first time.
Mr Hennessy was shot dead by a garda and his funeral took place this weekend. He is suspected of kidnapping and strangling Ms Valdez in Co Wicklow.
An Garda Síochána have said that both families have met for the first time.
A statement reads: “In the midst of our grief both the Valdez and Hennessy families met on Friday morning where we exchanged sympathies with each other on the tragic circumstances that resulted in the loss of our respective love ones. Both families request privacy at this very difficult time”
Two investigations are continuing into the deaths that followed the abduction and murder of Ms Valdez.
Ms Valdez will be laid to rest in the Philippines.
