The Willy Wonka reboot appears to have a list of three actors for the lead role

They’d all be very, very different.

Collider are reporting that Warner Bros. have narrowed down their wishlist for the actor to play Willy Wonka in the upcoming reboot.

Of course, film fans of a certain age will always associate Gene Wilder with the famous role but Johnny Depp’s wacky take on the character was also unique.

At the time, Depp said that he based his version of Wonka on an imaginary version of what George Bush would be like incredibly stoned. Riiiiiight.

Anyway, as reported previously, Warner Bros. are about to reboot the beloved Roald Dahl book with Paul King, director of the two Paddington films, at the helm.

It appears that Ryan Gosling (Drive, La La Land), Donald Glover (Solo: A Star Wars Story, Community) and Ezra Miller (Justice League, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) are the three main candidates to play Willy Wonka.

Truth be told, we can sort of see all three of them in the role because they’re capable of capturing the kooky, eccentric and strange vibe that personifies Willy Wonka.

Truth be told, we’d opt for Glover in the role – Gosling can be a bit intense at times while at 25, Miller is probably too young for the part- but they would all be a decent choice.

Of course, King has found massive critical and commercial success with the Paddington films and he seems like the perfect director to reopen the chocolate factory.

If that’s not enough reason to get excited about the return of Willy Wonka, Charlie, Veruca, Violet, Augustus and Mike Teavee, the new film is also going to be produced by David Heyman – he’s the man responsible for overseeing the Harry Potter films and it’s safe to say that he knows how to produce crowd-pleasing films while remaining faithful to the original source material.
