He’s gone full Cage on this one.
There really is no sight that’s quite like Nicola Cage whenever he goes ‘full Cage’ in a film. Con Air, Leaving Las Vegas, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans are just some of his finest work but even when he’s starring in really bad films, there’s still something hypnotic about his presence.
Well all remember the bees scene from The Wicker Man, right?
On this note, it appears that Cage’s next film can be categorised among his best work because Mandy has already been picking up some incredible reviews.
Having seen the trailer, we got a very surreal vibe as a creepy cult that’s led by Jeremiah Sand (Linus Roache) seeks to take over the Mandy’s body and soul. To combat this, Cage wields a handcrafted mythical weapon that’s meant to hunt “crazy evil.”
Yeah it looks batshit and brilliant in equal measure…sort of like Cage.
Plot’s it all about?: Pacific Northwest. 1983 AD. Outsiders Red Miller and Mandy Bloom lead a loving and peaceful existence. When their pine-scented haven is savagely destroyed by a cult led by the sadistic Jeremiah Sand, Red is catapulted into a phantasmagoric journey filled with bloody vengeance and laced with fire.
Cast: Nicolas Cage, Andrea Riseborough, Ned Dennehy, Linus Roache, Olwen Fouéré, Richard Brake and Bill Duke also star.
