The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Gardaí in Drogheda are appealing for information following a shooting.
The incident occurred at a halting site on Cement Road shortly after midnight on Thursday morning.
A 34-year-old man sustained a number of gunshot wounds and was removed from the scene by ambulance and brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
His condition is understood to stable. Nobody else was injured during the incident.
The scene has been sealed off for a forensic and technical examination and an incident room has been established at Drogheda Garda Station.
Garda Superintendent Andrew Watters has appealed to the public for information regarding the shooting, and has urged witnesses to make contact.
“We are particularly appealing to anyone who was in the Cement Road or Mell Area of Drogheda between 11.45pm and 12.30am last night to come forward,” he said.
