Great day for the county.
Superman is “faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound,” – applicable for every single man from Louth? We’re not so sure.
Granted, the Wee County is a great place to visit and is home to some remarkable scenery and history, we’re not sure if any of the men run around the streets of Drogheda and Dundalk in their pants while pretending that they can fly.
Actually…
Well (said in best Louth accent), it appears that the bookies have installed Irish actor Colin O’Donoghue as an early favourite to become the next Superman, in the event that Henry Cavill quits.

As previously reported, Cavill has been cryptic about the rumours that have been circulating about his future in the DC universe and at 3/1, O’Donoghue is the bookies favourite alongside Michael B. Jordan.
O’Donoghue is best known for his performances as Captain Killian ‘Hook’ Jones in television show Once Upon A Time and he’s not the only Irishman in contention for the role because Cillian Murphy’s name has also been mentioned.
Hunger Games’ actor Sam Claflin is next up in the betting at 6/1, with Armie Hamer, Channing Tatum, Cillian Murphy and Donald Glover all priced up at 10/1.
O’Donoghue’s credits include the Anthony Hopkins-led supernatural horror film, The Rite, and roles in Fair City and The Clinic.
