The incident took place on Thursday afternoon.
Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving a truck and a pedestrian that occurred in County Monaghan on Thursday 27 September.
The incident took place on Main Street in Carrickmacross at approximately midday on Thursday.
A female pedestrian in her late 70s was fatally injured in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene.
She was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where a post-mortem examination will take place.
Diversions have been put in place and the road will remain closed for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.
