Gardaí investigating the discovery of the body of Amanda Carroll at an apartment in Homestead Court in Cabra are now conducting a murder investigation.

The post mortem has been completed and the results have been passed to the investigation team. For operational reasons, the results are not being released.

The body of the 32-year-old mother of two was discovered shortly after 2.30pm on Sunday, 21 October by Dublin Fire Brigade, who alerted Gardaí.

A man in his 30s was arrested in relation to the investigation yesterday and remains in Garda custody at Mountjoy Garda Station, where he is being questioned by Gardaí.

Tributes have been paid to Amanda Carroll on social media with Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald among them.

“Shock and sadness in Cabra today at the death of Amanda Carroll. Everyone thinking of her children and wider family. A nightmare,” she tweeted.
