The cost of your electricity and gas bills will increase if you’re using Electric Ireland

Paul Moore

Those bills are going up.

Electric Ireland is to increase its electricity and gas prices by 4% from 1 April.

The company said that these increases are a result of sustained increases in global energy prices.

For electricity customers, the price hikes equate to €3.20 extra a month (including VAT) while gas customers can expect to see an additional €2.49 a month (including VAT).

Marguerite Sayers, Executive Director of Electric Ireland, has said that: “Electric Ireland is absolutely committed to keeping energy prices as low as possible.  Last November, while some other suppliers increased prices, we  implemented a Winter Price Freeze to ensure we protected our customers from the impact of  rising costs for as long as we could”

She adds: “We helped our customers by not increasing  our prices during the winter months when energy consumption is at its highest and people have the added financial pressure of Christmas. This resulted in a total saving of €21 million for Electric Ireland  customers”.
