Former Tyrone All-Ireland winner Shane McMahon is fighting for his life after being found unconscious on a street outside a nightclub in Dromore last week.

It has emerged that 23 year-old McMahon was brought to hospital in Omagh but since has been transferred to hospital in Belfast.

He remains in critical condition and it is not yet known how his injuries were sustained.

McMahon starred for Dromore St. Dympna’s in their 2007 SFC win, and was part of the Tyrone minor team that won the All-Ireland in 2004.

Dromore club official Joe Rafferty said: “Nobody can believe what has happened. His family, including his girlfriend, have been at his bedside. They are very appreciative of all of the support that people are giving.

“He’s a very popular fella. He’s a real role model for all the young fellas in the town. He has won a number of trophies in his career, including prizes for the Tyrone under 21s and the Tyrone minors. He has also won four or five league titles.”
