The first day of the May Chester meeting and the race for the final Champions League spot take the spotlight for JOE’s Daily Double.

Trainer Barry Hills usually has his charges ready to impress first time out and we like the look of his CHAMPAGNELIFESTYLE in the Cheshire Oaks (Chester, 2.15). The Montjeu filly won her maiden impressively first time out last July ahead of a couple of subsequent winners and we’re willing to forgive her a disappointing performance in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes on her only subsequent start.

Hills loves the Chester winners’ enclosure and we’re willing to take the 11/2 about her rather than the morning price joint-favourites Gertrude Bell and Myplacelater.

In football, the race for the final Champions League spot has boiled down to a crucial clash between contenders Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur at Eastlands tonight.

With so much at stake, this one is really hard to call but we’re going to stick our neck on the line and go for CITY TO WIN WITH CRAIG BELLAMY TO SCORE IN THE 90 MINUTES, which can be backed at 7/2.

The mouthy Welshman has been in cracking form this season and showed with his classy finish at the death on Saturday that he’s not lacking in confidence.
