GSOC has been informed about the collision.
A man and a woman have been killed in a car crash in south Dublin in the early hours of this morning.
The crash occurred when a car left the road and collided with a lamppost on Butterfield Avenue in Templeogue at around 1.30am.
The passengers of the car, a man and a woman, were fatally injured.
The incident has been referred to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) for examination.
The scene was examined by the Garda Forensic Collision Investigation Unit and the road has been reopened.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who travelled the road at the time of the crash, and anyone who may have dash cam footage, to contact Gardaí in Tallaght on 01-6666000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
