No money was taken in the attempted robbery.

Gardaí are investigating an attempted ATM theft in Louth.

At around 4.50am on Saturday morning, Gardaí received a report of an attempt to remove an ATM machine from a financial premises on Irish Street, Ardee.

A digger and a tractor were found at the scene while a 4×4 vehicle was located burnt out a short distance away.

The scene was closed on Saturday morning pending a Garda technical investigation and traffic diversions are in place.
