An Irish woman who was killed on Thursday in a suspected murder-suicide in Reno in Nevada has been named by police as Joan Huber.
It’s understood the 53-year-old was found dead alongside her two children, 17-year-old Adam and 16-year-old Michael, and her husband in what police suspect is a murder-suicide.
The four bodies were discovered at their home around 11am local time on Wednesday.
Speaking on Thursday night a police spokesperson said: “On 4 March, 2020 at approximately 11.04 hours, Reno Police Officers responded to the 10000 block of Canyon Country, on a report of a deceased subject.
“Subsequent investigation revealed three other deceased subjects within the residence that are believed to be members of the same family who reside there. This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.”
It’s understood that Huber is originally from Kerry.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it was aware of the incident and was providing consular assistance.
The Washoe County School District said it was offering resources to Damonte Ranch High School students and staff following the deaths of two of its students.
