Gardaí investigating as “partial human skeletal remains” discovered in Dublin

A potentially disturbing discovery.

Gardaí in Dublin are investigating the discovery of “partial human skeletal remains” on a site off Lower Rathmines Road in South Dublin.

In a statement issued by a Garda spokesperson, it was confirmed that the bones had been discovered during works on common ground at Lissenfield, on Thursday (9 April).

A forensic anthropologist has conducted examinations of the site along with members of the Garda Technical Bureau.

No details were provided as to the nature of the bones.

The remains have been removed to Dublin City Mortuary and a post mortem will be conducted at a later date. Gardaí have said that the results of post-mortem will determine the next steps of the investigation.
