Pick of the night: Tonight with Jonathan Ross, BBC1, 10.45pm.
We know, it seems a bit disloyal not to watch The Late Late if you’re stuck in the house on a Friday night, but by the time Wossy’s come on, the best bits of Tubridy’s show have probably finished. Besides, since Ross has announced his departure from the BBC he’s regained some of the edge he lost after the Sachsgate scandal. Tonight’s guests include Alan Sugar from the UK version of The Apprentice and Jake Gyllenhaal, who’ll no doubt be plugging his new movie Prince of Persia.
Sporting highlight: The Players Championship golf, Sky Sports 2, from 5.30pm.
It’s Friday night, so if you’re planning to start the weekend in a sedate way, why not go the whole hog and chillax with a bottle of wine and a view of pristine greens as day two of this year’s Players tournament unfolds. Playing on those greens are, of course, some of the best golfers in the world, among them Lee Westwood who so far today has enjoyed a spectacular round.
Other TV: I’m Alan Partridge, 3e, 11.55pm.
Sometimes it’s good to cringe. Watching Steve Coogan’s comic creation may make for uncomfortable viewing but it’s always funny, even if you’ve seen a particular episode a couple of times before.
