No Covid-19 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.

No new Covid-19 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours, while six new cases have been confirmed.

There has been a total of 1,753 Covid-19 related deaths in the Republic of Ireland.

Following the six new cases confirmed on Monday, there has now been a total of 25,766 confirmed cases of Covid in the country.

Meanwhile, for the seventh consecutive day, no further coronavirus deaths were recorded in Northern Ireland, with the official death toll there remaining at 556.

Monday also saw some positive news on the vaccine front, with a coronavirus vaccine that has been developed by the University of Oxford appearing to be “safe”, and trials suggesting that it trains the immune system to fight the virus.

Trials involving 1,077 people showed the injection led to the creation of antibodies and white blood cells that appear to be able to fight Covid-19.
