Lee Westwood leads the field by a single shot after the second round of the Player’s Championship at Sawgrass.
The Englishman and European number one carded a seven under par 65 yesterday and now stands at -12 overall, one shot ahead of Ryuji Imada, Francesco Molinari and Heath Slocum in second place.
Rory McIlroy couldn’t repeat his heroics at Quail Hollow last weekend and missed the cut by three shots after finishing +1 after the second day, the same score as fellow Irishman Padraig Harrington. It wasn’t all bad for the Irish contingent, however, as Graeme McDowell is still well in contention at -7, five shots adrift of Westwood.
Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson both made the cut but will have their work cut out if they are going to be in contention over the weekend. Both players currently stand at -3, nine shots off the lead.
