He is due to appear in Kilkenny District Court on Monday.
A man in his 30s has been charged in relation to the possession of explosive materials, which were found in Kilkenny.
The man was arrested on Friday evening after the explosives were discovered during the search of a property on Church Lane.
The Garda technical bureau and army explosive ordnance disposal unit were called to the scene at around 7pm and the area was sealed off following an inspection of the property.
The man was arrested nearby.
He is due to appear before a special sitting of Kilkenny District Court on Monday.
